Location and the surrounds

Trade Winds is located on the easterly side of the island on the rich fertile plateau of Steeles Point. It is an easy country drive of 6 kms from the shopping centre and the swimming beaches and golf course.

Jacob Christian House is a traditional island style home which has been painstakingly restored to offer ultimate comfort for 6 adults (can sleep up to 8). The cottages are all named in honour of our Pitcairn descendants: Samuel McCoy, Phoebe Adams, Dinah Quintal and Betsy Young. All set in 4 acres of tropical garden and lawns. A variety of fruit trees are there for guests to taste the delights of tree or vine ripened fresh fruit.

Floor to ceiling windows and doors ensure fantastic views of the pastures and mountain forests and ocean beyond. All are tinted and screened: with full drapes allowing absolute privacy when desired.

Master Bedroom
Our comfortable beds are all king size and all bedrooms have electric blankets, ceiling fans, remote controlled bedside lighting and insect screens. Every bedroom has its own bathroom and private access to the verandah outside.

Twin Bedroom
All our bedrooms are very spacious and we can always do a triple if requested. Hairdryers and beach towels are supplied to all guests.
The cottages have walk in robes.

Lounge / Kitchen
Each cottage has an open plan kitchen, living, dining room boasting polished floors and cathedral ceilings. Jacob Christian House has carpeted lounge room opening onto a large deck.

They have a fully equipped kitchen with full stove, microwave & dishwasher, multi channel satellite TV, video/DVD (a selection of quality movie DVD’s are available for children and adults), phone, gas heaters, own laundry & line. A clothes dryer is conveniently located for guest use.

Guests may dine inside, or on your private verandah.

The lounge room has a full size lounge suite for your comfort while watching television or socialising.

There is easy ramp access to all premises.

Should you have a late departure, make use of our comfortable transit lounge to shower, rest, or utilize the kitchen facilities.

For Trade Winds “Little Lodgers”...
A cot and high chair is provided free along with a toy box for very young children.

Out in the garden set in the shade of our stately Norfolk pines there is a swing set. Ball games, board games, and beach toys are available also. A small selection of videos and DVD’s are available for children.
